For one night only, see DBR (Daniel Bernard Roumain) & THE MISSION this Sunday, March 31 at the Berklee Performance Center.
A classical-urban ambassador for the next generation, violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is on a quest to blend funk, rock, hiphop and classical music into a new sonic vision. His nine-piece “electro-acoustic” band, THE MISSION, features an amplified string quartet, drum kit, keyboards, vocalist, DJ and laptop artist.
As Music Director of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and Assistant Composer-in-Residence of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, DBR’s musical pedigree is absolutely longhair. But with works like 24 Bits: Hip-Hop Studies and Etudes, he breaks the traditional mold with a completely original voice. Mission? Accomplished.
“The dreadlocked, hip-hop embracing Daniel Bernard Roumain is creating a miracle.â€
