5 Questions with Heather Charles

Heather Charles, a Boston native, works for a top diversity PR firm. She is a marketing communications designer and consultant for a New England client base. On April 16th she’s running her first Boston Marathon.
BO: Why did you decide to run the 2007 Boston Marathon?
HC:For the same reason people decide to start a business or take a chance on love… to experience the joys of trying something new and going after a personal goal. Most importantly, it was a chance for me to give back to a great group of inner-city kids from the Boston area.
BO:What are you going to do after you complete the Boston Marathon?
HC:Get a well-deserved spa treatment and massage. Take a vacation and simply relax for one month. But not for long… don’t be surprised if you see me running a 10K or half marathon.
BO:What five celebrities best describe who you are?
HC:Oprah Winfrey (philanthropy and business acumen); Martin Lawrence (crazy-ass sense of humor); Shondra Rhimes (creator and writer of Grey’s Anatomy – finally a culturally diverse cast on TV that represents America’s reality.); Jennifer Lopez (great sense of fashion and very diligent); Maxwell (I just love his music – it’s organic, smooth and cool… like me… just kidding!)
BO:What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
HC:Creatively: Working with your hands and making something out of nothing.
Spiritually: The Word. The Bible.
Emotionally: Good love. Respect. Genuine people.
BO:Anything you would like to say to the people reading this?
HC:Redefine your goals. Go for it. Do something new. And thanks for allowing me to share with you!
